Spiritual Direction

Ladies' Bible Study

We meet on Wednesday mornings from 10:30 to 11:30 in the Ministry Center Room 101.  We study the Lectionary Gospel reading for the following Sunday.   Each week there will be a reading of that particular Gospel, followed by comments, including the context and discussion of its meaning in our lives today. This group is rather informal, participatory, and open to everyone!  Please join us!  For more information, please contact Canon Rowena White at the church office 226-4026, or by email

Stephen Ministry

Our Stephen Ministers are all members of St Mark’s who have received special training to provide one to one Christian care.   They walk alongside one who has had a loss or is going through any of life’s transitions or difficulties.  Such difficulties include grief and loss of all kinds, including deaths, divorce, illness, "empty nest," disability, retirement, and any other of a myriad of life's transitions that can be painful.

Stephen Ministers listen, care, encourage, and provide emotional and spiritual support on a one to one basis that is confidential, free and empathic.  They do not try to fix a situation nor give advice; rather their attentive listening and acceptance provide comfort and healing. Stephen Ministers simply seek to be fully present and prayerful that God will bring healing.

Those who receive care from our Stephen Ministers do not need to be affiliated with St. Mark’s; this ministry is available to those from other churches and those without a church home.  Please contact Canon White if you or someone you know might benefit from the gift of such a caring relationship.  She will visit with anyone interested, and then prayerfully match each with the most suitable Stephen Minister.

Living Compass

Living Compass is a program that focuses on balancing our unbalanced lives. Through this class you will more deeply understand your strengths and figure out what areas of your life "need more watering." It is through looking at these four categories of Heart, Soul, Strength and, Mind that participants begin to realize the renewal needed in our lives. Through a series of small group meetings, participants reflect and brain-storm about their own lives and where there may be improvements. While Living Compass does not give advice, these small groups are meant to show you new ways of thinking about life through honesty. They will help you towards a sense of wholeness and wellness in your everyday life.
