The music and activities will be based upon the curriculum used by the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM).  The camp will be directed by Bryan T. Mitnaul, St. Mark’s Canon for Cathedral Music. <p><strong>The Altar Guild has openings for Chapel flowers on June 23 and 30 and July 21</strong>. – If you would like to donate flowers in memory or in honor of a loved one, please contact <strong>Sherri Skrivanos at <a href="mailto:sherrisk06@aol.com">sherrisk06@aol.com</a>.</strong></p>
<p><strong>You can honor or memorialize someone with your donation of parlor flowers. -</strong> Please contact <strong>Jennifer Varnadore at 834-3047 or <a href="mailto:jennifervarnadore@gmail.com">jennifervarnadore@gmail.com</a></strong> to select a convenient date to provide flowers for our beautiful parlor. Hosts are Jill and Brian Carnie. Bring folding chairs and blankets. Come join the fun at our Pentecost Picnic – this Sunday, May 19 right after the 10:00 am service. Wear red that day, dress casually and join us for hot dogs, ice cream and cake. We’ll have jumpies for the kids and great fellowship for the adults. 		<description><![CDATA[St. Mark’s will offer a “Painting on Silk&#8221; Class, this Saturday, May 11, from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm! -  Master the secrets of an exquisite art form.  From beginner to experienced artist, anyone can complete a beautiful silk project in this three hour class.  Lunch and all materials provided!  Cost is $20 per person and the class is limited to 30 ages 15 and up.  Sign up by calling Mary O&#8217;Neal at 393-0564. St. Mark’s Cathedral School is holding a Homemade Fair Trade - in celebration of U.N. World Fair Trade Day, on Wednesday, May 15 in the Parish Hall. There will be a bake-off and all proceeds go to support farmer and worker families across Latin America, Africa and Asia. For more information, contact Judy Kane at  jkane@stmarksschool.com. 		<description><![CDATA[The annual Young Families and Singles Crawfish Boil – is this Saturday from 5:00 pm till 8:00 pm at Ashley and John Atkins’ home, 126 Centenary Circle in Shreveport. The 307th Bomb Wing at Barksdale Air Force Base is having a Family Day &#8211; this Saturday, April 27 and they need help from the community! There are several ways to help:     1. Cook hotdogs/hamburgers.  They need 8 volunteers to cook beginning at 9:00 a.m.     2. Provide desserts (cookies/brownies/etc).  These can be dropped off at the church Thursday, April 25.     3. Mr. Brock will speak on his diagnosis with type 2 Diabetes and how he manages it in his day to day life. The event takes place in the Ministry Center. St. Mark’s will be helping the Community Renewal Highland Friendship House clean up their neighborhood – this Saturday, April 20 beginning at 10:00 am. We meet at the Friendship House at 2204 Creswell Ave. Bring gloves and trash bags. C.I.A. will be celebrating the end of their year with a fish fry – this Sunday from 12:30 until 3:30 pm at Elizabeth and Sean Peterson’s home. In addition to our 4th and 5th graders, all 3rd graders are invited. Middle School EYC and Youth leader Brooks Boylan will also be there to welcome the 5th graders to EYC. 		<description><![CDATA[Everyone is invited to our Spring Parish Dinner – this Thursday at 6:00 pm in the Parish Hall. Mexican food is on the menu! You do not want to miss this! Bells will be ringing on Thursday, April 11 - when  St. Mark’s will be visited by a group of expert change ringers from across North America.  Ringers will ring a peal in late afternoon, led by an accomplished conductor from England, who will then tutor our ringers for their weekly practice.  As you arrive for the Parish Dinner, take a minute to listen to the bells rung by some of the best change ringers on the continent!  Our Communion Celebration class will be recognized this Sunday at the 10:00 am service. – A reception for these children and their parents will be held in the Parlor immediately after the service. EYC has a camping weekend and work project at Camp Hardtner this weekend. -  We leave from the church Friday, April 12 at 4:00 pm. <p><strong>The annual Young Families and Singles Crawfish Boil –</strong> is <strong>April 27</strong> from 2:00 till 4:00 pm at Ashley and John Atkins’ home, 126 Centenary Circle in Shreveport</p>
<p><strong>The 307th Bomb Wing at Barksdale Air Force Base is having a Family Day -</strong> on <strong>Saturday, April 27</strong> and they need help from the community! There are several ways to help:<br />
    1. Cook hotdogs/hamburgers.  They need 8 volunteers to cook beginning at 9:00 a.m.<br />
    2. Provide desserts (cookies/brownies/etc).  These can be dropped off at the church Thursday, April 25.<br />
    3. Volunteers needed at 4:00 p.m. to help tear down and clean up.<br />

<p><strong>St Mark’s choirs, soloists and orchestra will present the Easter portion of Messiah by Georg Friderich Handel (1685-1759) -</strong>on <strong>Sunday, April 28</strong> at 4:00 p.m. The concert will be free and open to the public.</p>
<p><strong>Safeguarding God’s Children will be offered at St. Mark’s  -</strong> on <strong>Saturday, May 4,</strong> 9:00 am -noon in the Ministry Center Room 101. This class focuses on awareness and prevention of sexual abuse and is required by the Episcopal Church for anyone who works in the church as a volunteer or paid professional with children or youth. You may register in advance for the class by calling the church office at 221-3360.</p>
<p><strong>St. Mark&#8217;s collected just over $1,000 for United Thank Offering on Easter Sunday.  -</strong>  If you were unable to be with us this Easter and still have your thanksgiving offering, there is still time to get your money in to the church.  You can leave your &#8216;little blue box&#8217; in the office or a check in the offertory plate with UTO in the memo.  Thank you again for your prayerful support!</p>

Dean Alston continues his series Living Faith: Ten Video Sessions with N.T Wright – An Overview of the Essentials for Christian Life. The Dean’s class will be held in the Ministry Center Garden Room. Patrick Caraway teaches the Adult Confirmation class in the church library. A new Priscilla Shirer Bible Study – is underway Thursdays at 9:15 am in the Ministry Center. This new seven-week study, One in a Million- Journey to Your Promised Land, runs through May 14. To order the book, contact Amy Lewis at 469-0883 or alewi@comcast.net. The Monday morning Ladies’ Bible Study  - returns Monday, April 8 at 11:00 am in the Ministry Center Room 101. <p><strong>St. Mark’s will be helping the Community Renewal Highland Friendship House clean up their neighborhood –</strong> on <strong>Saturday, April 20</strong> beginning at 10:00 am. We meet at the Friendship House at 2204 Creswell Ave. Bring gloves and trash bags.</p>
<p><strong>St. Mark’s is collecting new or gently used towels and washcloths for Hope House. - </strong> Hope House is a day shelter for the street homeless.  You can place your towels and washcloths in the container just outside the church office.</p>
<p><strong>EYC has a camping weekend and work project at Camp Hardtner next weekend.- </strong> We leave from the church <strong>Friday, April 12</strong> at 4:00 pm.</p>

<p>St. Mark’s will host a Diabetes Academy – on Thursday, April 18 from 6:00 till 7:30 pm featuring major league baseball hall-of-famer Lou Brock. Mr. Brock will speak on his diagnosis with type 2 Diabetes and how he manages it in his day to day life. The event takes place in the Ministry Center.</p>
