There will be a farewell day for Bishop and Susan MacPherson this Saturday, June 23 at Camp Hardtner. - A relaxed day of music, worship, lunch and time to visit has been planned from 11:00 am till 2:00 pm. Everyone is invited.
We Welcome our Bishop D. Bruce MacPherson - on his last visit to St. Mark’s this Sunday. Bishop MacPherson will preach and celebrate at both the 8:00 and 10:00 am services and will also confirm at the 10:00 am service. There will be a reception honoring the Bishop and his wife, Susan, along with our new Confirmands, after the service in the Parish Hall.
We welcome our Interim Dean- the Rev. Wayne Carter, who will be with us on Sunday, July 1. Father Wayne will be away at Convention for two weeks beginning July 2, but then he will settle into his new duties. He has served parishes in the Dioceses of Dallas and West Texas as well as Western Louisiana. He last served at St. John’s in Minden for almost ten years before retiring this past February. If you see him around the campus, please make him feel welcome!
EYC is going to Dallas - for June Blast this weekend, June 21-23. We leave from the church at 9:00 am Thursday the 21st. We will also have a lock-in June 28 & 29 here at the church. Be here Thursday evening at 7:00 pm.
The Monday Women’s Bible Study - will be taking the month of July off. We will meet Monday, June 25 at 11:00 am in the Ministry Center and then we will take a break until August 6. Have a great summer!
The Wonderful Story of God is coming! – our Vacation Bible School is July 9-13 from 9:00 am till noon here at the Cathedral. VBS is open to all children who turned 3 by January 1, 2012 (they must be potty-trained), up through kids who completed 5th grade this spring. The cost, which includes a t-shirt, is $25 per child. You can pick up a registration form in the church office. If you are already registered, please plan to be here on Sunday, July 8 after the 10:00 am service for early check-in! We hope this will simplify the registration process the week of VBS.
The Consecration and Installation - of our own Dean Jake as the Fourth Bishop of the Diocese of Western Louisiana will be held here at the Cathedral at 10:00 am on July 21, 2012.The Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, the Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori will be the Chief Consecrator. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall. More information about seating and opportunities to view the event at other locations will be forthcoming in the next few weeks.
