We welcome our Vacation Bible School students – who will be singing at the 10:00 am service Sunday morning. We are spending the week learning The Wonderful Story of God! Please welcome these great kids!
The Consecration and Installation - of our own Dean Jake as the Fourth Bishop of the Diocese of Western Louisiana will be held here at the Cathedral at 10:00 am on July 21, 2012.The Presiding Bishop of the Episcopal Church, the Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori will be the Chief Consecrator. A reception will follow in the Parish Hall.There will be child care available from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm that day. But please note: this is a three hour long event and the nursery does NOT provide food. Please bring anything your child will need for that period of time.
Evensong and a reception for Bishop Bruce MacPherson and his wife Susan - will be held on Friday, July 20 at 4:00 pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Shreveport.
The Most Rev. Katharine Jefferts Schori , the Presiding Bishop, will visit and preach at St. James’ Episcopal Church in Shreveport on Sunday, July 22 at 10:00 am.
All are invited to both services.
EYC is going out for lunch each day this week after Vacation Bible School.- We’ll also be going to the movies Friday, July 13. Meet at the Boardwalk. Middle Schoolers at 1:00 pm and High Schoolers at 5:00 pm. We will be Paintballing this Saturday from 1:00 pm till 7:00 pm.
The Food Bank of Northwest Louisiana needs volunteers - to sort food items and pack boxes for pickup. St. Mark’s will be helping the Food Bank sort and pack on Saturday, July 28 from 9:00 am till 11:00 am. The Food Bank is located at 2307 Texas Avenue, Shreveport. We need 10-20 people. If you are interested in helping, or have questions about this event, contact Jennifer Beruvides at jennifer@stmarkscathedral.net.
St. Mark’s is teaming up with the Caddo Council on Aging - to take a Meals on Wheels route that will be located in the neighborhoods not far from the church. The meals are brought to the church, a volunteer picks them up and delivers them between 8:30 am and 11:30 am. There are 8 meals and delivery takes about one hour. This is a great way to touch an elderly person’s life! Find a friend and do this as a team! The next Pre-Baptismal meeting is August 5 -immediately after the 10:00 am service in the Dean’s office. This is the only meeting before the August 26 Baptismal date. If you would like to schedule a date for a Baptism, please call Liz Montelepre at 226-4031.
