Very soon we will be having Rally Day and starting a new year of Christian Formation and Youth Ministry. I am very excited for what is in store for the youth of St. Mark’s this year. We are going to continue to build on the progress that we have already made.
Over the past ten months the St. Mark’s EYC has done a lot, and we have really started to lay the foundation of a youth program that we can all be very proud of.
In laying that foundation, we established and revitalized many areas of what the youth at St. Mark’s do….
From a stronger focus on worship by worshiping together with the Back Row Club, Formal EYC, and youth services…
To providing deep and scripture-based Bible studies, and Christian Formation…
To establishing active service and outreach with our Youth Outreach Going On (YOGO) by making meals for Hope House and The Homeless Mission, feeding and helping the animals at the Cypress Black Bayou Zoo, planting trees at the Walter B. Jacobs Park, and participating at the Servants in Faith and Technology (SIFAT) camp…
To building a real community of fellowship with Coffice, our trips to Disney World, EYE, and Dollywood, our numerous youth events, our Summer O’ Fun program, and our first Youth Week.
Wow! We have had a busy year!
Here’s the thing, we are just getting started, and we need you!
This year we are continuing with what we started last year. We are presenting a new confirmation program for the 9th and 10th grades.
We are continuing to focus on solid Christian Formation. We will be adding retreats and a ski trip for our continuing fellowship growth.
We will also continue expanding how the youth at St. Mark’s can serve Christ in others and in the world by building on our programs, YOGO, and planning a foreign mission trip.
But we cannot reach the bull’s-eye that we are striving for without your support and your help. With all that we have planned and hope to do this year, I want to encourage the youth of St. Mark’s to come and see what we have to offer in our programs.
And to you the parents, I want to encourage you to help me as we live our Baptismal Covenant, by supporting St. Mark’s youth program and by making this program a focus on your son or daughter’s life.
Come be a part of what we are doing at St. Mark’s.
It is my hope that as you read this, you are sparked into coming to Rally Day and seeing what St. Mark’s has to offer your youth and yourself.
